A question most often faced by graduating
students of any university is what to do next in life. In today’s world, there
are several options available for people. However, for people with
disabilities, these options may not be as widely available. This is not because
there is a lack of ability but often because there is lack of information about
what opportunities exist and how one can gather the required knowledge and
skills to pursue a particular career path.
To address the need we are organizing a seminar on ‘Career opportunities’
in collaboration with EOC, University of Delhi on 18th November, to
bridge this gap.
There are skilled jobs available after
graduation in various streams. These include:
- Advertising,
Film, Media & Mass Communication
- Banking,
Finance & Commerce
- Management
- Physical
Education & Sports
- Arts,
Law & Language
- Fashion,
Textile & Accessory Design
- Medical,
Pharmacy & Health Care Services
- Computer
Applications (Web design, Animation)
- Tourism,
Hospitality & Aviation
- Architecture
- Teaching
- Higher
Education & Research
- Administration.
- Soft
skills (careers in BPO, KPO)
This is not an exhaustive list and can include
other streams as well. The seminar will focus on career opportunities available
to people with disabilities and the assistance available towards pursuing the
same. There will be speakers from the disability sector who are working to
create job opportunities for people with disabilities. There will a perspective
shared on the issues that women with disability face when choosing careers.
Speakers will also include people with disabilities who are today successful in
their respective areas of work. Other speakers will include career counselors
and experts from various fields. The sessions will be interactive and informative
with the aim of addressing the concerns that students may have regarding their
potential future careers.
